The Story of the Cajón
Rooted in the rich rhythmic traditions of Africa, according to legend the cajón is based on the original box drums made out of wooden crates by African slaves in the port cities of Cuba and South America.
They burst into the modern era through the fires of flamenco thanks to the genius of Paco de Lucia and his association with Peruvian percussionist Caitro Soto in the 1970's.
Today, the cajón is at home on the global stage in every musical setting.
